Junior Staff
LECG offers three levels of junior staff career positions that vary with the professional's level of experience. These are:
- Research Analyst
- Associate
- Senior Associate
The research staff at LECG includes three positions: research analyst, associate, and senior associate. The research staff plays an integral role in researching and analyzing complex economic, financial, and business issues in litigation, public policy and other fields. Research staff members work on teams consisting of other researchers, senior staff, and experts, including our directors and principals.
Research staff are responsible for collecting and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative information. Qualitative sources of information include trade press, academic research, and market intelligence; quantitative information sources include public databases, client records, and confidential business records gathered during litigation.
Research staff members often work on teams involving several members of the firm from different practice areas and offices. This provides research analysts, associates and senior associates with opportunities to expand their experience and knowledge into new industries and fields, and the opportunity to work with professionals with various areas of expertise.
LECG seeks research staff candidates who have excellent analytical and communication skills and demonstrate an enthusiasm for economics and economic research.
The
research analyst position is our most common entry-level position. Research analysts typically have undergraduate degrees in areas of focus of our firm. They may also have work experience in areas related to our work. We also hire research analysts with master’s degrees.
As a research analyst, you are responsible for a wide variety of tasks including database programming; synthesizing empirical and theoretical research; determining what qualitative information may be important for projects; and summarizing relevant information for use by clients or in reports. You create and manage spreadsheets and databases, and you help develop regressions and other statistical analyses.
LECG
associates have more background than research analysts in their areas of specialization, gained through additional education, work experience, or both. Associates typically handle more advanced theoretical or empirical projects. As an associate, we rely on you to make sound subjective judgments and interpretations about research strategies and methodologies. You may supervise other research staff. Associates may be hired into this position or may be former research analysts who have received promotions. Successful associates are considered for promotion to senior associate.
Our
senior associates are the research staff members with the most advanced backgrounds in terms of education and experience. In addition to promoting to senior associate, LECG hires senior associates with the requisite backgrounds and training. Senior associates handle complex programming and analysis tasks and are leaders among their peers. Successful senior associates are considered for promotion to the position of economist or consultant. These are senior-level positions and involve responsibility for developing and completing analyses, handling client interactions, and managing staff and overall project work under the direction of the case expert, typically a director or principal.
