Rachel Williams, Principal

Biography

Rachel Williams, a principal in LECG’s Century City Office, has more than 11 years of experience assisting corporations, governments, attorneys, and their clients with financial, economic, and accounting matters. Ms. Williams specializes in performing forensic accounting investigations, providing litigation support, calculating economic damages, and consulting in complex finance and accounting matters.

Ms. Williams has conducted several forensic accounting investigations across a wide range of industries pertaining to allegations of financial statement fraud and/or accounting irregularities. These investigations have involved matters such as improper revenue recognition, understated and/or delayed expense recognition, employee embezzlement, contract compliance matters, and other types of fraudulent activities. While investigating such issues, Ms. Williams’ work has included tracing of missing funds, identification and quantification of misappropriated assets, assistance with financial statement adjustments, and interviews of responsible parties.

Ms. Williams' professional experience in litigation and forensic services includes numerous engagements involving assessment and quantification of damages, lost profits, and economic loss calculations in connection with civil litigation matters in a variety of industries. She has assisted attorneys and their clients with the preparation of damage models, discovery requests, preparation of deposition and interrogatory questions, document interpretation, analysis of opposition's damage and liability claims, research related to accounting and litigation issues, research and analysis of market and industry trends, preparation of declarations and expert reports, development of trial exhibits and presentations, and preparation of expert witnesses for testimony.

Ms. Williams leads LECG’s Native American Advisory Services practice and has extensive experience in the gaming industry. She advises Native American tribes and gaming enterprises on finance, economic, and accounting issues. For two and a half years, Ms. Williams worked with the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians as the tribe’s chief financial officer. As the CFO, Ms. Williams assisted the tribal council in developing policies, initiatives, and strategies, and oversaw the tribe’s diverse portfolio of investments which includes the tribe’s permanent fund, limited partnerships, real estate development ventures, and gaming enterprises. She has assisted Tribes in developing in-house accounting departments, restating financial statements, and writing numerous policies and procedures for operations, budgeting, employee benefits, internal controls, and member services. On behalf of Tribes, Ms. Williams has overseen casino/resorts’ budgetary and financial activity, interacting with gaming agencies, casino management, and program managers.
