Biography
Susan L Pope is principal in the Cambridge MA office of LECG, where she specializes in electricity market design. Her work focuses on the design of bid-based electricity spot markets, two-settlement systems, systems of financial transmission rights, financial rights auctions, ancillary service markets, and on transmission pricing issues. She works for both ISOs and electricity market participants, providing an economic and business assessment of actual or prospective changes in market structure or pricing rules.
Dr Pope was actively involved in all aspects of the development of the market design to restructure the New York Power Pool into the NYISO, as well as in the development of market-based energy and transmission pricing systems in PJM and the ISO-New England. She supported the MISO and CAISO stakeholder processes in designing market rules for converting existing entitlements to transmission usage into financial transmission rights and other aspects of their FTR market designs. She also has worked with ISOs to develop incentives for improved transmission outage performance and market rules for awarding incremental FTRs to parties funding transmission expansions.
Dr Pope received her undergraduate degree from Harvard College and has a PhD in business economics from Harvard University.
